Who We Are?

Message from Gagan Narang

I had a dream to take Indian shooting to unprecedented heights. Out of that dream was born Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation and Gun for Glory. Having seen the sports at its highest levels for 14 years, I realised that it needed a shot in the arm at the grassroots. There was a need to reach out to the budding athletes. All through my career I have felt how support at right junctures transforms careers and I wanted to do just that.

I would have never have managed to pull off this project without the support of like minded philanthropic individuals, who in their own understated manner, have nurtured the foundation and the academy from the day we began. Today it hosts 350+ national and 108 international medallists.

After living my dream in London, my conviction of giving back to the system became stronger. I wanted to make GFG a wider and more accessible programme that exceeds perhaps even my own imagination.

My team at Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation with my personal attention, will ensure that we do all we can to produce Olympic Champions and have at least have one GFG trained shooter within top 3 of ISSF World Rankings We have put our best foot forward in supporting 4 Olympians. The effort, in these few years, has been hugely satisfying. Now, we need support, from like minded individuals, institutions and organisations to take Indian Shooting to the next level.
GNSPF have simultaneously started with two programme named Project Seed & Project Leap which is focusing at grassroots and elite level.

I wish with little help from friends like you we are able to nurture the dream called ‘GUN FOR GLORY’.

I hope that you will explore our website to learn about the shooters themselves and the programs referred to above, and many others initiated by GNSPF.

Message from Pawan Kumar Singh

“Being a part of the National Rifle Association of India for more than a decade has given me an opportunity to observe the sport very closely. India has won maximum individual medals in this sport at the International Platform, which tells us that India has got immense Talent.

The fact that the total number of shooters in India is less than .0002 % of the population is a challenge that needs to be overcome. GFG was established to bridge this gap and make shooting more accessible to the masses. GFG, with its Excellent Curriculum based training and ample equipment support makes it possible for our
students to reach the National level in less than a year of training, and at a cost less than that of an Air Rifle.

In our journey since 2011, more than 35000 youngsters have been introduced to the sport and when I see that 70% of our National participants from Gun for Glory are below 21 years of age, I, without a doubt am truly confident that we are headed in the right direction… VISION 2024… 10 MEDALS INDIA SHOOTING.”

About Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation

Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation (GNSPF) was founded in 2011 under the able stewardship of Khelratna & Padmashree awardee Gagan Narang and Mr. Pawan Singh, Hon’ble Joint Secretary General of NRAI.
GNSPF is devoted to the promotion and development of the Olympic sports and works with a mission of creating a vibrant and thriving shooting community in India and to make shooting, India’s most accessible mainstream sport.
GNSPF believes that there is no dearth of talent in India in the sport of shooting and is committed to uplifting India’s best talent by making world class infrastructure and training available to them and thereby creating world beaters from India. GNSPF, to meet its objectives has taken the following initiatives keeping in mind its Vision 2024, 10 medals shooting India:

Broad basing the Sport

GNSPF has initiated a unique talent search program which runs across India. In this talent search program, potential shooters, especially from schools are identified and then inducted in the special curriculum based training program.
GNSPF has also tied up with various state governments like State Government of Gujarat & State Government of Telangana and is conducting state wide talent searches in the respective states thereby reaching the masses and making the sport available to one and all. GNSPF has touched more than 25000 lives so far and introduced them to the Olympic sport of shooting.

Nurturing the Talent

Talent once identified, without proper guidance and nurture is sure to go waste. GNSPF has set up the first of its kind, state-of-the-art shooting academy in India, the ‘Gun For Glory’ (GFG) Shooting Academy. GFG boasts the best in class infrastructure with all facilities to create modern champions. GFG has developed a unique curriculum based training program which guides kids/amateurs right from the first time till they reach the international platform and represent India. This is done through various levels of training as required for their entire shooting journey. The success of this curriculum based training program is amply demonstrated by the fact that the academy shooters have won more than 106 international medals so far and we have 7 representations at Olympics so far to our credit. This success has not only helped us in Pune but also in 17 other locations across India where GFG is present and provides the same level of training to shooting enthusiasts.
